Review: Fire & Flood by Victoria Scott

Fire & Flood (Fire & Flood, #1)Author: Victoria Scott
Publisher: Scholastic Press
Number of Pages: 320

Synopsis:
"Tella Holloway is losing it. Her brother is sick, and when a dozen doctors can't determine what's wrong, her parents decide to move to Montana for the fresh air. She's lost her friends, her parents are driving her crazy, her brother is dying—and she's helpless to change anything.
Until she receives mysterious instructions on how to become a Contender in the Brimstone Bleed. It's an epic race across jungle, desert, ocean, and mountain that could win her the prize she desperately desires: the Cure for her brother's illness. But all the Contenders are after the Cure for people they love, and there's no guarantee that Tella (or any of them) will survive the race.
The jungle is terrifying, the clock is ticking, and Tella knows she can't trust the allies she makes. And one big question emerges: Why have so many fallen sick in the first place?"
One of the best thrillers I've read, this is one book that ANY YA reader will enjoy no matter their favorite genre.

Fire & Flood blew my mind. I absolutely have fallen in love with this book and I really am just psyched for the sequel to come out. The characters were amazing, the plot was phenomenal, and this is flat out one of the best books of 2014 I have read so far!

When I first recieved this book and read the synopsis I was hit by how much it seemed like the Hunger Games, and I'm a fan-not a big one but I am a fan. This is like The Hunger Games, fans of the series will love this book, but something about Fire & Flood makes it so much better than Collin's series. Fire & Flood is a better Hunger Games and it catches your attention the minute you read the first sentence,
"If my hair gets any frizzier, I'll shave it to the scalp."
That first sentence really just caught my attention and reminded me of my own hair when I've been outside in the summer for a long period of time. This book just had some of the wittiest lines and some of the most capturing scenes ever. I finished this book in a solid day, I was hooked to this book. Victoria Scott wrote this amazing book and I just want more

The characters in this book are simply amazing. Tella is such a driven character and Scott has made her so life like when it comes to her emotions. Tella wants to give up at times, she feel frustrated, sad, hopeful, scared etc. Her feelings just go through this roller coaster just like a normal human-beings would if they were in the Brimstone Bleed.

Guy is this character in the book that really just changes out you look at the Brimstone Bleed. Throughout this book we see this competition as this amazing things that just helps sick people but by the end we just see it in a whole different light that leaves us shocked. Guy is also this amazing guy *giggles* that just is full of kindness but he also stays strong and keeps his eye on the goal.

This whole book is full of amazing scenes that go through all the obstacles that the contestants have to face. This book is full of awesomesauce and I just love it so much. This is the first book by Victoria Scott that I have read and I am dying to read her Dante Walker series, but my B&N doesn't carry it :( . Anyways I HIGHLY, HIGHLY, HIGHLY suggest you read this series and I have heard other amazing things from other bloggers as well.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars!!!
