Where Life Takes You (Life #1)Author: Claudia Y. Burgoa

Number of Pages: 242

Synopsis:
"BECCA TRENT LIVED HER CHILDHOOD NEXT TO A CRUEL WOMAN—her mom—who lived to torment and neglect her. During her high school years, her mother married; bringing home not only a new husband, but a step sister her same age. The latter took over her Mom's role—making Becca's life miserable. Including stealing Ian—Becca's best friend and boyfriend—Lisa treated her worse than her mother had for the previous fifteen years. A couple years later, thing ended up in tragedy.
Becca buried that part of her life in the deep corners of her psyche, caught between sanity and nightmares. Between therapy, work and her constantly looming past she can't seem to find room to breathe. The memories of her late step-sister, Lisa, are her closest company.
Her best friend, Dan gives her that family love she always lacked. Everything was close to perfect, until everything and everyone from her past came back. Now she's trying to figure out how to survive and keep that bond which seems now to be held together by a thread."
I enjoyed this book but I have to stress before you read this book that if you are sensitive to abuse type issues than I would either not read the book or do a little more research on the book to make sure you are comfortable reading this.

This book has a very big message in it and it really touched me. There were many times in this book where I was fighting back tears and desperately trying not to scream. The hurdles that the main character, Becca, has to go through or has had to go through are very mentally crippling situations. Many people who go through these experiences often have a hard time adjusting to life outside those experiences-it consumes and defines them. Becca didn't let that happen. Once she was able to tear herself away from the situation she stayed strong and made a better life for herself.

Dan-her best friend-is most definitely my favorite character. He's kind, caring, trustworthy, and someone that Becca can trust. He's the type of friend everyone wants and deserves to have, I know I want him as a friend and not just because he is good-looking. This is my Dan:

I don't know if he really fits the description that is given in the book but that's him in my mind.

The plot for the most most part was great. It took a couple of pages to get used to the author's unique writing style but I ended up really enjoying her style and the whole story is very riveting. The only problem was the ending. I was just so happy, the thing I was waiting for the whole book finally happened and then it just shattered and the book ended. I was DEVASTATED. The ending just killed me and kind of made me resent the book. I'm hoping the sequel will fix the problem and I will keep my finger's crossed.

Overall, this book was really good but the ending just killed it for me, you might end up thinking differently. Read the book and let me know!!

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars!
